This course covers types of tracheostomies, anatomy and physiology, indication/requirements for a tracheostomy, tracheostomy suction using mannequin, importance of Stoma Care in relation to tracheostomy, cleaning of a Stoma and proper way to change the dressing and tracheostomy tie, changing a tracheostomy inner cannula, changing tracheostomy tubes in the community, communication and care of a patient with a tracheostomy tube, managing complications for a patient with tracheostomy, plugging, changing the speaking valve, documentation and consent, awareness of privacy and dignity while handling the client, and laryngectomy management.
